About
Like other great comedians, Lonely Cake’s earliest origins began with five guys goofing off in class and making wise-ass remarks in lecture halls. After discovering that they had good chemistry with each other, the act was taken from the back of the class to the front as they began to perform in a number of presentations, assemblies and independent drama festivals.
The comedic backgrounds of The Lads are as versed and layered as many cakes. The Members of Lonely Cake have training in stand-up, improv, clown, film production, morning announcements and general hilarity. With comedic influences ranging from SNL and Second City to blooper videos and lack of sleep the Cake has something for everyone and is bound to leave you craving another slice.
Though the Cake is a relatively new sketch troupe they already have put the icing on a number of performances. In their first production, Lonely Cake made an independent feature film called Swingline. This film premiered at the annual Showcase for the Arts at Brock University and was attended by over 200 fans. Perhaps the most challenging production that Lonely Cake has been a part of occurred when they were involved in a 24hr theatre project. Through improvised scenes, The Cake created, rehearsed and performed a one-act play all in the span of 24 hours.
